Annapurna Circuit Tour- Plan and Demand as you go

Annapurna circuit is considered one of the best treks in the world though road construction is threatening its reputation and its future as a classic trek. Yet no one disputes that the scenery is outstanding: 17 to 21 days long, this trek takes you through distinct regional scenery of rivers, flora, fauna and above all - mountains.

There are four regions that are passed through on the trek; Lamjung, Manang, Mustang and Myagdi. Lamjung and Myagdi of the lower elevations are both predominantly Hindu and with lush green subtropical valleys with villages and terraced farming.

Manang and Mustang are of the higher elevations and are predominantly Tibetan Buddhist. The Manang people are Gurung (not Tibetan descent) and are very proud of their unique cultural heritage and merging of lower land Gurung and Tibetan cultural influences. People of Mustang identify themselves a lot closer with Tibet and the Mustang region has actually been part of Tibet in history. Mustang also is one of the last places in the world to view the ancient Bonpo Religion in action. Villages to note for Bonpo are Thini and Lupra near Jomsom, and Nargon near Kobang.

The trek goes counter-clockwise from Besisahar to Nayapul and reaches its summit in Thorung La (pass) at the height of 5416m, or 17,769 feet. The route goes past the following mountains: Manaslu (an 8,000-plus meter peak), Langtang Himal, Annapurna II and IV, Annapurna III and Gangapurna, and, of course, Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri -- passing through the world's deepest gorge in between those two 8,000-plus meter peaks. Poon Hill, at the end of the trek, affords views of those two mountains, as well as South Annapurna and Macchupucchre, the "Fishtail Mountain."

The trek also goes through Buddhist villages and Hindu holy sites, most notably the village of Muktinath, a holy site for both Buddhists and Hindus, and Braga, one of the oldest monasteries in the region.

Budget for 1000 NR per day if you are a very modest-spending trekker, though those on a budget can get by with less and people who want to live it up a little should allow for more. Please note that despite the efforts of ACAP there are still some wild swings in pricing that will surprise. For some reason, the region between Tal and Chame is more expensive than from Chame to Manang which is more difficult to access! As the prices seem to be fairly set throughout each village though, do not concern yourself with hunting around a village looking for a cheaper place and try not to stop at the first lodge you see so that trekkers are spread through the village. Quite often the nicest lodges are on the way out of town.

Highlights of the tour
Classic trek on ancient trade routes
Ascending the Marshyangdi valley
Passing Manaslu and Hinchuli
Visit old Buddhist monastery in Braga
Explore beautiful Manag village

Wonderful mountain peaks, warm Sherpa hospitality, and feelings of accomplishment await the adventurer exploring the Everest area. The trek holds a variety of routes, which can be tailored to suit your schedule. Your adventure can last anywhere from a week up to a month. The journey begins in the fertile valleys of Solu. Even more impressive is the fishtailed pinnacle of Mt. Machhapuchhare (6977 mt.) For the adventurous, the massif of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) waits to be explored. Pokhara is the starting point for the most famous treks in Nepal, in the Annapurna area. Pokara is situated 200 K.M. west of Kathmandu.

What to See?

Phewa Lake: The second largest lake in the kingdom, this is the center of attraction in Pokhara. The eastern shore, popularly known as lake side, or Baidam, is the favorite hang out for travelers, and is where most of the hotels, restaurants, and handicraft shops are located.

Begnas & Rupa Lake - The lakes offer the perfect natural retreat because of their relative seclusion. Splendid boating and fishing oppertunities can be had here.

Barahi Temple: The most important religious monument in Pokhara, built almost in the middle of Phewa Lake, this two storied pagoda is dedicated to the manifestation of Ajima, the protectress deity who represents the female force.

Seti Gandaki: Flowing right through the city, this turbulent river runs completely underground in places. Amazingly, at certain points, the river hardly appears to be two meters wide, but it is quite deep, up to over 45 meters.

Devi’s Fall: Locally known as "Pataley Chhango", this is an awesome waterfall lying about two km. southwest of Pokhara airport. Legend has it that a trekker (Devin David….) was washed away by the Pardi Khola (river) and mysteriously disappeared down into an underground passage beneath the fall.

Mahendra Gupha (cave): Another of nature's wonders in Pokhara is the Mahendra Gupha. This large limestone cave is locally known as the house of bats, which is an apt name for it. A two hour walk to the north of Pokhara, it is best to bring your own torch in order to see the stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the local winged residents.

Lumbini
The birth place of Lord Buddha

Nepal is as well known to the world as the sacred birth place of Lord Buddha as it is famous for its mountains and monuments. It attained a high level of civilization and prosperity, and its acclaim is well deserved. Buddha was born into a royal family. Immediately after his birth, he took seven steps in the four cardinal directions, and wherever he set foot, a divine lotus flower bloomed.

The main attraction at Lumbini is the Secred Garden, which is spread out over 8 sq km and contains all of the treasures of this historical area. The Mayadevi temple is the main attraction for pilgrims and archaeologists alike. Here we find a bas relief that shows Mayadevi, the Buddha’s mother, giving birth to him. Standing west of the Mayadevi shirine is the oldest monument in Nepal, the Ashoka Pillar. The pillar was erected by Emperor Ashoka in order to commemorate his pilgrimage to the sacred site.

Chitwan National Park (CNP)
Chitan National Park is a world heritage property, and it also contains a Ramsar Site – Beeshazari Tal in its buffer zone. The CNP has a history of over 3 decades in park management and a rich experience in resolving conflicts between the park and the people.

It is a rich natural area in the Terai, the subtropical southern part of Nepal. A total of 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds, 56 species of herpetofauna and 126 species of fish have been recorded in the park. The park is especially renowned for its protection of One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger and Gharial Crocodile.

The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which sometimes mistakenly is called Muktinath as well. Within Hinduism, it is called the sacred place Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the "place of liberation or moksha". This temple is considered to be the 105th among the available 108 Divya Desam, which are considered sacred by the Sri Vaishnava cult. The ancient name of this place in Sri Vaishnava literature, before Buddhist origin, is Thiru Saligramam.
This houses the Saligrama shila considered to be the naturally available form of Sriman Narayana  the Hindu Godhead. It is also one of the 51 Shakti peethams. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means 'Hundred Waters'. Although the temple is has a Vaishnava origin, it is also revered in Buddhism. For Tibetan Buddhists, Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa is a very important place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers and one of the 24 Tantric places. They understand the murti to be a manifestation of Avalokitesvara.

Climate and weather condition in Nepal , best time to go Nepal

Climate and weather condition in Nepal plays a major role for visitors. The question is when is the best time to go holiday to Nepal ? There is always best time to go Nepal as long as you enjoy the climate variance and be prepared for the change and challenge of nature however if you know the seasonal variance of the weather than your tour plan will be more effective and helps you to organise in better way.

Normally there are four types of seasons likewise everywhere but you need to know when as it happens different around the globe.

Winter season falls around  (December, January, Febuary)

The Nepali Winter sees predominately high pressure bringing clear skies and dry weather. The temperatures are warm in the day but as the sun sets the temperature falls quickly and nights are often very cold.

Pre-Monsoon season falls between (March, April, May, Mid-June)

During the Pre monsoon you can expect more variable weather but with predomininantly clear mornings and overcast afternoons. Both the days and nights will be warm and the temperature will gradually increase as the season progresses. Thunderstorms are quite common at this time of year and are sometimes combined with short bursts of heavy rain or hailstones.

Monsoon season falls between (Mid-June, July, August, Mid-September)

The Monsoon season dominates Nepali climate and is a period of low pressure which brings frequent rain showers and storms. The majority of the rain falls in the afternoon and night-time but there are also occasional days of continuous rain. During this season the temperature and humidity is very high during both the night and day.

Post-Monsoon falls between  (Mid-September, October, November)

The Post Monsoon Season brings a return to stable high pressure giving mainly clear skies, sunshine, warm days and cool nights.

The Best Season to Visit

Each of Nepal's climatic seasons offer something different and visitors do come to Nepal all the year round. However, the weather that suits most people is during the Pre and Post Monsoon seasons. It is at this time that the majority of vistors come to Nepal.

These two main tourist seasons (Pre-Monsoon, March, April, May, Mid June and the post-Monsoon, Mid-September, October, November). Both tend to be fairly dry, and to provide pleasant conditions for trekking, rafting and sightseeing. During the Pre-monsoon visitors will have the benefit of flowering plants, but visibility is sometimes reduced with hazy conditions. Post-monsoon normally provides good visibility.

Trekking

For trekking below 4000m, the day time temperatures in these seasons will normally allow visitors to be comfortable in a t-shirt and light sweater. Above 4000m a fleece jacket may also be needed. At altitudes above 3000-3500m, night time temperatures will be low (often down to around freezing), but a down jacket or staying tucked up comfortably in a warm tent or lodge will be enough to stay comfortable.

Trekking is still possible outside the main seasons and during the monsoon months (mid-June, July, August, mid-September) the rain-shadow areas of the upper Marsyandi and Kali Gandaki valleys, and Dolpo receive far less rain than the Khumbu or Annapurna areas. During the winter conditions can also be good although much colder, but be aware that on occasions in January, February and March the higher passes and valleys are sometimes unreachable owing to snow fall.

Rafting

Rafting is possible throughout the year in Nepal. Seasonal variations in temperature and rainfall affect the water levels in the rivers and determine which rivers are best run at any one time. Optimum seasons for running each river will be advertised by good operators on their websites.

Bear in mind that these temperature figures are 'Shade Temperatures' - sunny day times will be warmer. Remember also that temperature will decrease with altitude, at a rate of around 1 degree per hundred metres higher.

It can be useful for all travellers to take a look at Meteorological Forecasting Division of Goverment of Nepal here: http://www.mfd.gov.np/  to check the weather before travel.
